Two major players in the safety business are joining forces to help customers simplify their life raft compliance issues. Through this agreement with the Survitec Group, Wilhelmsen Ships Service introduces Unitor-branded life rafts to the maritime market.
From October 2008 the Survitec Group will manufacture the ‘Unitor’ brand life raft for Wilhelmsen Ships Service for use in their life raft leasing programme worldwide. Customers will be supplied with high quality life rafts from the world’s largest survival products manufacturer, and will benefit from a global servicing network supported by both companies’ loyal and professional networks.
“Our partnership with Survitec is a logical step in our strategy to become the shaper of the maritime service industry through our strong brand names. This partnership will further enable us to improve our customers’ operational efficiency,” says David Tandy, President of Wilhelmsen Ships Service.
Wilhelmsen Ships Service sets the industry standard for supply of fire, rescue and safety-related equipment and systems to the maritime market, under the well known Unitor brand name. One of the company’s prime initiatives is the provision of a life raft rental service to its key clients worldwide, reducing service time required in port.
The Survitec Group is at the forefront of survival technology, focusing on serving the marine, aerospace and defence markets under several respected brand names such as RFD, Beaufort, DSB and Elliot.
Uel McChesney (CEO of the Survitec Group) welcomed the agreement with Wilhelmsen Ships Service. “This is an important strategic alliance which will serve to further improve marine safety standards. This gives ship owners and operators greater access to high quality safety and survival equipment backed by Survitec’s design and manufacturing technology, supported worldwide by the Unitor and Survitec service networks.”
The partnership between Survitec and Wilhelmsen Ships Service is a good match. Both Wilhelmsen Ships Service and Survitec have extensive experience in safety and compliance. Combine this with Wilhelmsen Ships Service’s global, 24/7 service network, and Survitec’s expertise in survival products and approvals, they can offer the maritime market a well proven range of Unitor life rafts backed up with a global life raft rental and support system.
