Congratulations to the winners of the Survitec Group Award for Engineering Excellence at the 6th Annual Safety at Sea Awards

Survitec Group was delighted to announce the winners of the Survitec Group Award for Engineering Excellence, at the annual Safety At Sea Awards dinner last week. Held on board the HMS Belfast on Thursday 14th June, the Safety at Sea Awards celebrate the role that safety companies play in saving and protecting life at sea across the international maritime market. Survitec Group, as overall sponsors of the event, offered its own award for Engineering Excellence to recognise those people and companies which strive for the same level of distinction and innovation in their engineering processes as we do.

A record breaking number of entries were received to the overall awards this year and the Safety at Sea Panel had quite a task in shortlisting those for the Survitec Group Award. Survitec’s own judging panel was compiled of experts from across the Group’s “Centres of Excellence” and included specialists in the fields of Business Improvement, Research and Design, Engineering and Manufacturing.

Damian Keown a Technical Director from Survitec Group presented the awards to the winner and two runners up, “It really was very difficult for the Survitec Group judging panel to pick just three companies to receive an award. We have been impressed with the quality of the entries and have been pleased to participate in such a prestigious awards ceremony.”

Russell Gould Chief Executive of winning company Kelvin Hughes commented “My background is in engineering – I am an engineer – and to win that award for our company means so much because I know the amount of hard work and dedication that my engineers have put in to this it will mean a lot to them and when I stand up in front of those guys in a couple of weeks time in our regular internal communications meetings and tell them that the work they’ve done has won us international recognition they will be delighted, I’m sure they will, and I’m really proud of that.”

Andrew Richards, Survitec Group Marine and Leisure Sales Director commented in his after dinner speech “it is only through the commitment to engineering and manufacturing excellence that we believe we can create products which can be relied upon to save lives …. other companies who can identify with this ethos are who we are here to reward.”

Survitec Group would like to extend their thanks to all the companies who entered the awards, and warmest congratulations to the winners of the 6th Annual Safety At Sea Awards.
