Survitec has today announced it has recently received classification approval from Lloyds Register for its additional capacity Mass Evacuation System (MES), the RFD MarinArk 2. No other single LSA can rapidly and safely evacuate up to 860 passengers in 30 minutes.
This new development of the additional capacity RFD MarinArk has been driven largely by the cruise ship companies themselves and Survitec has been working closely with its key customers to bring the new capacity product to the market. Marine industry statistics show that vessels in the marine industry are larger – new cruise ships carry 4000+ passengers.
Richard McCormick, Sales Manager for the RFD MarinArk range commented “This is the latest in a long line of innovations for the RFD MarinArk product range. We can now offer the safe and efficient evacuation of up to 860 passengers, which gives our larger passenger vessels more options for system configurations and reduces the need for supplementary evacuation options such as lifeboats.”
As original pioneers of MES, Survitec Group empathises with the challenges faced by the Cruise Industry and is committed to ensuring passenger safety is the highest level of priority. All RFD MES undergo the highest level assessment of any life-saving equipment - full sea trials in heavy weather of at least Beaufort Sea State 6 winds and 3m significant wave height.
MES are increasingly being seen as the preferred, safety evacuation solution in the event of disaster. This milestone is a significant achievement for the Survitec Group as the RFD brand moves into its third decade of MES installations on large passenger vessels.
