Aberdeen, 24 November 2011; Survival One (http://www.survival-one.com) and Survitec Service and Distribution (SSD) (http://www.survitec-sd.com) part of the Survitec Group of companies, are delighted to today announce the opening of new shared offices and servicing facility in Aberdeen.
‘Survitec House’ is a purpose-built facility next to Aberdeen Airport in Dyce, approximately eight miles North East of Aberdeen Harbour and will be home to over 40 employees of the Survitec Group. Survival One is focused on serving the oil and gas industry, military, marine, aerospace and homeland security and has recently announced a new contract with KNRM, the Royal Dutch Rescue Organisation. Survitec Service and Distribution is the newest addition to the Survitec Group. Formerly part of Cosalt PLC, SSD has a heritage of supplying the marine and industrial safety markets with reliable equipment for over 138 years
The new building provides an ideal location for servicing the company’s expanding customer base in Northern Scotland, which includes many blue-chip companies in the offshore oil and gas industry including Shell, BP, Transocean, Talisman, Wood Group, Exxon Mobil and Vroon.
Doug Baxter, CEO Survitec Group commented “We are delighted to open our new facility in Aberdeen today. The location here is ideal for both airport and harbour, creating a crucial base in order to serve both marine and aviation customers, in particular those heading offshore to oil and gas platforms. It’s an important part of the Survitec Strategy to align all parts of our business as one team whilst retaining the history and heritage of the individual brands and we’re delighted to bring both our Aberdeen based businesses under one roof in Survitec House.”
SSD Managing Director Andrew Richards said Survitec House will provide SSD with the space and flexibility it needs to grow its business in Aberdeen. “It is important that our branches reflect how we work and go about our business. The Survitec way is to run a clean, tidy and efficient ship and follow good housekeeping rules. These are the building blocks of delivering excellent customer service. Working in a modern purpose-built environment makes it easier to focus on these values and add value to the service we provide to customers.”
Greg Allanach, Survival One Managing Director added “We also believe in establishing a collaborative working style where it is easy for our people to share information and work together in an open plan arrangement. Survitec House, which is ideally located close to excellent road, rail and air communication links, offers all this and more. We are hoping to exploit the natural synergy between our activities and those of SSD. Our close proximity and working relationship could bring enormous benefits to shared customers in the offshore sector,” he said.
The new premises feature modern open-plan office space and a high-specification service bay designed to meet Survitec’s exacting quality standards. The area is temperature controlled and large enough to service 12 inflated 25-man liferafts. Dedicated workstations with colour-coded toolsets are located on the perimeter of the servicing area. A davit load testing facility and moveable overhead gantry crane have also been installed
Outside the building is a large storage and work yard with a designated area for carrying out cleaning and fibreglass work. SSD has also specified a purpose-built sealed pyrotechnics store and dedicated facilities for storing new and hire liferafts and holding customer liferafts. Inside there is a large stores area so the company can hold keep a large stock of marine safety gear from lifejackets and Perrybuoys to general lifesaving equipment, reflective materials and liferaft/lifejacket spares.
