We are pleased to announce that Survitec Group has been selected by the German Air Force to provide an aircrew ensemble providing cold water immersion protection, thermal insulation and protection from fire/flame exposure. The new ensemble will be introduced across all of German Air Force flying platforms. The contract has been awarded by BWB (Bundesamt für Wehrtechnik und Beschaffung), the procurement agency for the German Air Force.
The multi million Euro contract, for around 2000 systems, will be delivered over a 3 year period with the first systems being delivered by the end of this year.
The aircrew ensemble system is unique in providing an integrated approach including functional underwear, a thermal protection garment and immersion suit to optimise pilot protection and performance. The suits will be supplied and manufactured by Survitec through DSB and will be supported by German subcontracting partners.
DSB, part of the Survitec Group and based near Hanover, is a leading company in the development, processing and manufacturing of rubberised fabrics with marine, defence and aerospace applications and draws of long standing experience and expertise.
David Griffiths, Vice President, Defence Sales at Survitec Group, added, “We are delighted to have been awarded this contract which demonstrates the appeal of our complete system approach and builds on our long standing relationships with BWB and the German Air Force. Developing the suits to meet the needs of the German Air Force has been an evolutionary process and the result is a unique system that will offer enhanced protection to all aircrew, enabling operations to be conducted in the most challenging and extreme environments. This contract is the largest DSB has secured in 20 years and forms a significant part of our development in Europe."
Markus Bolay, Territory Sales Director responsible for BWB projects, commented; “We are very pleased to supply the German Air Force with this unique and high quality system. We look forward to rolling out the suits over the next few months and continuing this valuable partnership.”
