Survitec Group Limited, world-wide manufacturers and distributors for the marine, defence and aerospace survival technology industries, is pleased to announce it will be attending the Make It in Manufacturing Regional Grand Final.
This will be the fourth annual Grand Final and is being held in Blackpool on Thursday 30 June 2011. The final is the culmination of this year’s round of events and a celebration of the hard work exhibited by the young people. 15 of the best performing teams from across the North West of England including the winner from the Survitec Enterprising Challenge on 16 December 2010 will attend.
At the Survitec Enterprising Challenge ninety 13 and 14 year-old boys and girls gained an insight into the high-tech world of life-saving survival equipment and established their own mini-manufacturing businesses and created new survival products for use on land, sea or air ranging from inflatable tents for disaster zones to immersion suits for oil-rig workers.
Brian Stringer, Chief Operating Officer for the Survitec Group, said: “We are delighted to support this event as we recognise how vital it is to overturn outdated and old-fashioned perceptions of manufacturing and encourage more young people to consider careers in the sector. World-class businesses such as ours rely on highly-skilled people and we want to ensure that we can continue to attract the right people with the right skills both now and in the future.”
About Make IT in Manufacturing
The Make It in Manufacturing campaign (www.makeit.org.uk) was launched by The Manufacturing Institute in 2006 to shake off the myths and negative perceptions that surround the sector and show the outside world, particularly tomorrow's workforce and potential investors, just how much modern industry has to offer.
